Accelerating CreaTech Innovation in North Wales.
Platinum Designs Ltd is evolving. We are bridging the gap between high-end design and software engineering to build the next generation of creative tools.
From Service Delivery to Intellectual Property.
For over a decade, Platinum Designs has served as a premier digital agency. But the future of the creative industries lies in ownership, not just service. The "Platinum Innovation Lab" marks our strategic transition into a product-led organisation.
We are shifting our focus from hourly deliverables to the creation of Scalable Intellectual Property (IP). By ring-fencing resources for Research & Development (R&D), we are creating a sandbox where design heritage meets code-based innovation. Our goal is to develop proprietary software and platforms that solve systemic problems in the creative workflow—tools built in Wrexham, for the world.
Core Areas of Innovation
Our R&D efforts are focused on three critical intersections of technology and creativity.
Sustainable Digital Infrastructure
The internet contributes significantly to global carbon emissions. We are researching and prototyping low-carbon web development frameworks. Our goal is to build a toolkit that allows Welsh SMEs to deploy high-impact digital brands with a minimal carbon footprint, aligning with Wales' Net Zero targets.
Creative Automation & AI
Artificial Intelligence is reshaping how content is made. Rather than resisting this shift, we are harnessing it. We are developing internal tools that integrate AI into the graphic design lifecycle—not to replace designers, but to eliminate repetitive tasks, allowing our human talent to focus on high-value creative strategy.
Spatial Computing & Immersive Experiences
As digital interfaces move from screens to spaces (AR/VR), we are exploring how traditional branding principles apply to 3D environments. We are prototyping 'CreaTech' applications that allow North Wales tourism and heritage sectors to leverage immersive storytelling.
Anchoring Innovation in Wrexham
Too often, technical innovation is centralized in major capital cities. Platinum Innovation Lab is challenging this narrative. We believe Wrexham and North Wales possess the grit, talent, and creativity to become a CreaTech powerhouse.
We are committed to:
An Open Ecosystem
Innovation does not happen in a silo. We operate on a collaborative model, actively seeking partnerships with:
1. Opportunity Identification
We don't wait for briefs; we identify gaps. We analyze the creative landscape to find systemic inefficiencies or sustainability challenges that require a technological solution.
2. Hypothesis & Feasibility
Before a single line of code is written, we define the technical hypothesis. Can this be solved? Is it viable? We conduct rapid feasibility studies to validate the core concept.
3. Rapid Prototyping (PoC)
We move quickly from theory to visual Proof of Concept (PoC). Using low-code tools and agile frameworks, we build a working model to test the user experience and core functionality.
4. Technical Engineering
Once validated, we enter the deep build phase. Our engineers develop the proprietary architecture, integrating specific CreaTech elements like AI automation or immersive spatial data.
5. Pilot Testing (Beta)
We don't just "QA"; we pilot. We deploy the prototype with select North Wales partners and industry stakeholders to gather real-world performance data and user feedback.
6. Iteration & Refinement
Innovation is iterative. We analyze pilot data to refine the tool, optimizing for speed, carbon efficiency, and commercial scalability based on actual usage metrics.
7. IP Commercialisation
The transition from "Project" to "Product." We finalize the intellectual property, preparing the tool for wider market release or licensing within the Welsh creative ecosystem.
8. Impact Measurement
We track success beyond uptime. We measure the economic impact, job creation potential, and carbon reduction metrics to ensure the product delivers on its strategic promise.
